About Adel, Iowa

Adel holds the title of the oldest city in Dallas County, Iowa. It was originally incorporated under the name Penoach in 1847, and resident’s changed the name to Adel in 1849. The city’s ideal location on the Raccoon River and close to Des Moines made it an appealing location for settlement.
