About Bondurant, IA

Founded in 1884, Bondurant was named after Alexander C. Bondurant, a settler from Illinois who became instrumental in the town’s growth. Bondurant would go on to cultivate large plots of farmland and provide access to the Chicago Great Western Railway, which built a station in the town.

Today Bondurant is a city with a relaxed small-town atmosphere. It consists mostly of residential neighborhoods, although there are several local businesses within the community and a number of schools, churches, and recreational facilities. It is located just a 20-minute drive from downtown Des Moines.
